Antique Victorian Ladies Blue Silk Suit Ref: 8229Le Antique Victorian Ladies Blue Silk Suit. This is a charming antique Victorian ladies silk outfit, dating to circa 1880. This delightful antique Victorian suit as three pieces, a long skirt, a long sleeved bodice or top and a bustle cover all the pieces are in a wonderful vivid bright blue silk. The skirt is full length, with gathering to the back, to allow room for a bustle and pleated to the front, the bottom of the skirt is lined in linen to give it strength and so it can be starched to give it shape. The waist band of the skirt is strengthened with cotton and the skirt has a hidden pocket. The back of the skirt is longer and it is edged in White knife pleated linen mesh edging. The bustle cover goes over the skirt and is edged in matching blue silk tassels. The bodice has a high neck, with stand up collar, ti is fully lined in cotton to give it strength, it has full length, fully formed and shaped sleeves, edged in the same White linen mesh as the skirt, as is the collar of the bodice. The bodice is fully shaped and darted to fit and features blue silk buttons to the front, blue silk tassels to the shaped hem, and a tiny hidden pocket. This is a really divine antique suit which has for the most part been hand stitched and is really a piece of fashion history, so this is the perfect addition to your antique inspired wardrobe or clothing collection! The antique Victorian suit has light signs of wear and the skirt has small 4 inch / 10 cm repair where the skirt fastens and the bodice has light discolouration and a couple of small holes to the silk under each arm, but these minor flaws do not distract from this pretty antique suit, which retains all of its antique charm and is structurally very solid. The antique suit can be worn, but, it is such a wonderful piece, it would be far more appropriate to display it. The antique Victorian suit has no other flaws or damage, very good condition.
