Antique 1920s Whiting & Davis Co. Gold - Tone Metal Mesh Evening Bag. This beautiful little evening bag is a real find. Made in circa 1926 by the American company Whiting & Davis it has a delicate, shimmering gold - tone metal mesh body attached to a gold tone metal frame with kiss clasp and chain handle. The frame is decorated with a wonderful hammered parrern, the links are all embossed with a circular design and the frame stamped with the Whiting & Davis Co. logo. The chain handle of the evening bag is also chaming, it is made up of long flat metal links, each embossed with a little pattern. This is a very charming piece and would make a wonderful addition to your antique and vintage evening bag collection. The evening bag measures approx 6 inches / 15 cm across and approx 7 inches / 17.5 cm top to bottom (excluding handle, which adds a further 6 inches / 15 cm). The bag has just enough room for your essentials for an evening out! The evening bag is unlined, although it is likely that originally it was lined and there is rubbing to the gold - tone finish on the frame. There are no other flaws or damage, good condition.
