Antique 1920s Viennese Tapestry Evening Bag. A very pretty hand embroidered evening bag, dating to circa 1927. This is a wonderful little evening bag, with a hand embroidered body depicting flowers on a black background. The bag has a gilt metal frame, clasp and chain handle, decorated with a pretty raised pattern, rust coloured enamel detailing and tiny flowers, the clasp is topped off with a large purple glass stone. The bag is lined in cream fabric, with a small open pocket and the original cloth label, which reads: Hand Made, genuine petit point, made in Vienna. This evening bag will add a touch of vintage charm to any outfit and this type of neat little hand embroidered evening bag is becoming highly sought after, so this is a great addition to your vintage or retro chic wardrobe, or vintage handbag collection. The evening bag measures approx 8 inches / 20 cm across and 5 inches / 12.5 cm tall (excluding the handle, which adds the same again to the height). The stone on the clasp has clearly been re-glued at some point and it does not sit quite straight in the mount and there are a couple of tiny points of missing enamel on the frame detailing, but, these flaws are very minor and only noticeable it you look closely for them. No damage, overall good condition.
