| We want you to be happy with your order, and not have any nasty suprises, so we accurately and honestly describe all our products, with particular attention to any flaws or damage.\nAlmost all of our products are aged between 20 & 200 years old, so they are vintage or antique and not new and as such their condition is rarely as new. However, we do hand pick all our stock, avoiding tatty pieces, so the items we select, for you, are in the best possible condition, we can find, and many of them are in extramly good condition for their age.\nWe have also developed a system for grading the condition and state of our products, with the details of the condition of an item included in the final paragraph of its description and further explantion below.\n\nIn case this is not enough, all our products are all covered by our No Quibble Refund Guarantee - click here for more information.\n\nHow we describe our products - The Grading System.\nWe're careful to describe our products as accurately as possible, in particular the condition of the items and any repairs, wear, flaws or damage. Here is an explanation of the descriptions and terms we use:\n\nCondition - we have six catagories of condition from mint to poor, below are the criteria that the item must meet for it to be labelled with a specific condition level.\n\nMint Condition. - This means exactly that , the item is in mint condition .... perfect ..... as if it had walked out of the shop this morning, it will have no signs of wear, use, flaws or damage.\n\nExcellent condition - This means that the item will be almost perfect, with no damage, flaws and practically no signs of use or wear and any that are present will be noted in the item description. The item will be in fully useable condition, unless otherwise stated in the description.\n\nVery good condition - This means that the item has no obvious wear, signs of use, or major flaws or damage and any that are present will be clearly noted in the item description. The item will be in fully useable condition, unless otherwise stated in the description.\n\nGood condition - This means that the item may have some small flaws, signs of use or light wear, but, these will be noted in the description and unless otherwise stated, the item will bein fully useable condition.\n\nFair condition - This means that the piece will have some obvious signs of use, flaws, damage and wear, but, again this will be clearly stated in the item description. Most items that are in fair condition have been included in the site because they are outstanding either for their charm or they are quite rare. In the main these items are not mixed in with the higher quality stock found within our store, they are contained in the Bargain Basment sections.\n\nPoor condition - This means that the item will have some major damage, signs of use, flaws and wear, that will be described within the item description. Most items that are in poor condition have been included in the site because they are outstanding either for their charm or they are quite rare. In the main these items are not mixed in with the higher quality stock found within our store, they are contained in the Bargain Basment sections.\n\n\nGlossery of Terms - we use a number of terms to describe the state of an item, so here is a glossery of those.\n\nDamage - this refers to occurances, which have harmed the appearance or usability of the item - so chips, cracks, stains, holes.\n\nNo damage - This means exactly that, the item has no chips, cracks, marks, or other damage and very little if any wear or rubbing to the finishes. \n\nWear - This refers to the general and usually light signs that an item has been used in a normal way, over time. Please note that this is not damage.\n\nNo Wear - this means exactly that, no signs of use or wear.\n\nLight Wear- This means the item will show some light signs of useage (not average or heavy useage). light wear would consit of signs of rubbing to edges and corners, but, not damage (so no chiping holes etc...). There may be no specific points of wear, flaws or damage to mention, but, the item doesn't quite feel brand new, so it would be classed as having light wear.\n\nSome Wear- This means the item will show some signs of useage (not heavey useage). wear consists of signs of rubbing to edges and corners and to other limited areas, but, not damage and the wear will be outline in the description.\n\nDiscolouration - this refers to a change in colour, due to fading or aging, (but not damage, so not marks or stains) and again this will be described if present on a piece.\n\nCrazing - this is where the surface of a pottery glaze developes very light crackling, over time. Within the antiques industry crazing to the surface of pottery glaze is not considered damage, as it occurs naturally. \n\nManufacturing Flaws - these are flaws that have occured during the manufacturing process, they are not damage and will be noted in the item description. \n\nMissing Parts - if an item has a missing part, including stones in jewellery pieces and beading on handbags and clothing, it will be noted within the description. \n\nRepairs - where an item has been repaired or restored, it will be noted in the description.\n\nWe do try to be conservative in our estimation of the condition of our pieces, so that when you recieve them, they will be as described or even slightly better.\n\nOf course we are only human and occasionally we miss a small flaw, so if you receive your order and it is not as described, we apologize whole-heartedly and if you let us know, we can ofer you a discount to reflect the condition or of course you are covered by our NO Quibble Refund Guarantee. \n\nI hope these expantations help you with your choice of purchase and if you have any questions regarding the condition of a piece, please just click here to email us or call us on 07731475164 between the hours of 10am - 8pm 7 days week (UK hours), we are always happy to answer them.\n |
