Buying antiques and collectibles can be quite a daunting prospect, if you are a novice collector, so here are a few tips that should make it a bit easier for you.\n\n1) People start collecting for any number of reasons, however, you should remember that the market value of antiques and collectibles can go up and down, depending on their popularity within the market place and other factors, so always collect something that you like! That way you'll always enjoy it!\n\n\n2) There are bargains to be had, but, if it sounds too good to be true - it probably is!\n\n\n3) Always check pieces for damage, as the condition of a piece can affect it's value dramatically. Buying pieces with small flaws, at the right price, is a great way to start your collection, without braking the bank! A good dealer will always be specific about any damage.\n\n\n4) If you are purchasing online, chose a dealer that has their contact details on the web site, ideally, they should provide an email address, business address and telephone number. (Our details are on the Contact Us and About Us pages of this site).\n\n\n5) A reputable dealer will also have a very clear returns and refund policy. (Our products are all guaranteed and we offer a full returns policy - see the No Quibble Guarantee and Returns Policy pages of this site).\n\n\n6) If you have questions - ask! This is how you can build up knowledge about your collection, find bargains and avoid getting ripped off!\n\n\n7) If an item is priced at more than you are comfortable paying, ask the dealer if they will negociate on the price, most will, a little - if you don't ask, you don't get!\n\n\n8) Collectors clubs are a great way to find out more about the type of items that interest you and members often sell items between themselves.\n\n\n9) If you are unsure about a dealer, ask around, even at fairs and carboot sales, dealers often do the circuit for many years and so you can find out if they are esablished and have a good reputation.\n\n\n10) Listen to your gut instinct, we often pick information without realising it, so listen to your instincts, you don't have to act on them, but they can help , but beware your instinct is not that little voice in ytour head going "we could make a fourtune here"! Remember, if it doesn't feel right walk away!\n\n\nPlease note that this information has been obtained from a variety of sources, and it is to the best of our knowledge correct.
